There are two ways to do it. One is an interlock kit with a transfer switch and the other is a generator panel. They both have some pros and cons. Which one works best for you will depend on your individual situation. Having said that, I’m a fan of the interlock kit in most cases as it’s cheaper and gives the customer more control over what the portable generator powers.
