Sales, Service & Installation
by Kuhlman Electric™
Kuhlman Electric™ is an authorized Generac® installation partner, trusted by homeowners in New England for professional installation of the Generac Guardian® whole-house generator. Whether you’re preparing for storm season or the next unpredictable outage, call Kuhlman™. We will make the process easy from start to finish.
Kuhlman Electric™ is designated by Generac Corp as one of a small number of Select Installers in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Our licensed electricians handle every aspect of the installation process—from site selection and permits to the fuel and electrical hookups.
As part of the installation Kuhlman™ installs the Automatic Transfer Switch. This smart device monitors your home’s incoming utility power and automatically starts your Generac generator the moment it detects an outage, then transfers generator power to your homes main panel.
Most installations are completed in one day. Your system will be fully tested and ready to protect your home the moment utility power fails.
The Guardian is America’s #1 home standby generator, automatically restoring power within seconds of an outage. Built for reliability, delivering clean, stable power for everything in your home. – The Generac Guardian runs efficiently on natural gas or propane, and includes Mobile Link remote monitoring, quiet operation, low maintenance, and 24/7 support.
See the chart for a general guide on the best size Generac for your home, then schedule an estimate with Kuhlman Electric™. We will do a full audit of your electrical system to confirm the correct size and provide an exact price quote for the Guardian, including professional installation by Kuhlman Electric™
Kuhlman Electric™ assumes you are on this page because you already know why you want a whole-house generator. But it seems every generator page on the internet list the obvious benefits of adding uninterrupted electricity to your home, so we’ll give in to peer pressure and do the same, (wink)
Answer: When it’s 89 degrees and your central-air has run all 5-days of a power outage, you’ll be certain the cost was a bargain. But the more straightforward answer is anywhere from $10,000 to $30,000, depending on the size of your home and the number of devices and circuits you choose to power. The best part is, it cost nothing to learn the exact amount when you schedule a free generator estimate with Kuhlman Electric™.
Answer: The internal motor of the Generac Guardian generator converts fuel into electricity. It operates using two types of fuel, either natural gas or propane.
Natural Gas (NG): If your home has natural gas service already, or if it’s available, then natural gas is the better option because it is continual, no refills required. It burns clean, is less expensive and can supply your generator indefinitely.
Propane (LP): – Kuhlman™ has a number of Generac customers in Central Massachusetts and Southern NH that have no access to natural gas service. Not a problem! Propane is a clean-burning fuel that is stored in a pressurized outdoor tank. The tank needs periodic refills, but when it’s full your generator will run for multiple days without issue.
Answer: You don’t need to be home. If there’s a power outage caused by a storm, or any other reason, the Generac Automatic Transfer Switch detects the outage and within seconds the generator motor is triggered and restores full power to your home soon after, and it continues supplying electricity until utility power returns.
Remote Monitoring: Generac Generators are also wifi enabled. The WiFi connection allows you to monitor the status of your generator from anywhere in the world using a smartphone, tablet or PC. Easily access information, such as the current operating status and maintenance alerts. Kuhlman Electric™ also offers a monitoring service, which enable us to proactively address any alerts with your generator before it becomes an issue.
Answer: No. Generac’s Guardian series is rated the quietest residential generator on the market. The largest 26kW model is rated at 50 dba, which is comparable to normal conversation, or a printer or clothes dryer. But the 50 dba rating is the level outside the house 20-feet from the unit. Inside your home behind one exterior wall the level drops to 38 dba. One thing for certain, if the power is out, yet your house stays warm in the winter or cool in the summer, then the far away hum of your generator will be darn near comforting 😉
Answer: Buying a Generac is not a mistake, but there are a couple of points to watch out for when making your purchase.
Choosing the Wrong Size: See the size estimate chart below. Obviously choosing a generator too small for your essential devices is a problem, but it’s also true that “bigger is not always better”. It’s common for homeowners to buy a bigger, more expensive system than needed. Kuhlman™ does a full audit of your power needs and designs a system correctly sized to power your entire home and withstand a long term power outage.
Choosing the Wrong Installer: -Kuhlman Electric™ is a Certified Generac installation company, but you will find many companies that carry the same certification, and much like all doctors have a medical degree, where they trained, their level of experience and their quality of care varies widely. Kuhlman Electric™ has 38-years of experience and over 1250 5-Star homeowner reviews. We urge you to test the knowledge of our generator staff and compare our record to the field.
Once Kuhlman™ installs your generator we view it as a long-term commitment to service and your satisfaction. It’s essential to keep your generator running at peak performance. That’s why we offer annual maintenance plans that include oil changes, filter and spark plug replacements. We do a complete annual system check and full testing.
Part of the maintenance plan is constant monitoring of your generator. Generac’s Mobile Link Monitoring allows us connect to your generator via the internet. Kuhlman’s™ offices are alerted when there is a maintenance issue or trouble of any kind and we dispatch a service tech to solve the problem before it becomes one.
Kuhlman™ technicians know Generac systems inside and out. We make it easy to schedule service and keep your generator in top running condition. Sign-up for Kuhlman™ maintenance with your new Generac generator.
Most Electricians serve a few towns, and we used to do the same. But when we applied and were chosen to be an Authorized Generac Dealer it created the opportunity to serve customers throughout Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
Generac installation projects take us all over the state and require us to be closer to our customer for immediate service, so as our Generac reputation has grown, so has the size of our staff and coverage area.
Today we perform not only generator installs, but every type of residential electrical service based out of 7 offices covering Metro Boston, Eastern & Central Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
